Mud Mask Review / iTunes Giveaway!

This week I took a break from crafting and designing to review a beauty product called”Dead Sea Mud Mask.”  I also took a break in order to bring you fabulous readers a chance to win a $25 iTunes gift card!

Mask

So let’s discuss the mask first: I was really excited to be sent this product!  It is full of organic ingredients including mud from the dead sea.  The dead sea is the lowest point on earth and is known to have beauty and healing properties; which is pretty cool.  I love masks, and thought this one was pretty great! The only slightly negative thing I would say, is that it had a very strong scent.  Overall great product though! If you’re interested in learning more, check it out on Amazon.:)

Now onto our giveaway! In order to enter to win $25 to iTunes there are a couple things you have to do:

 giveaway1) Like Trend-Mix on       Facebook

Project: Pearl Picture Frame

Trend: Pearls

This DIY was inspired by Lupita N’yong’o’s dress from the Academy Awards.  There was a big buzz about this dress; designed by Calvin Klein with over 6,000 pearls, the dress was stolen right after the award show!  (Don’t worry, they eventually found it)  Anyway, it was a such an amazing look, that I thought I should do something similar.  Thus, I bring to you, the pearl picture frame DIY.  I used tacky glue for this project but hot glue would definitely work as well.  Enjoy this nice and easy tutorial my fellow crafters! 🙂

Project: Ombré Pillow

Trend: Ombré

I have been getting that feeling again, the feeling to tie-dye fabric!  I’m not sure you can relate but trust me it’s fun!   I wanted to do something a little different this time and see if I could pull off ombré. I have never done it before and it was actually way easier than I thought.  It’s all about light washes and dark washes.  I go into more detail below but trust me I think anyone can handle it!  The only thing you should be aware of is how messy this project can get. I recommend putting down a garbage bag on the floor, having some paper towels nearby or maybe even trying this outside or in a bathtub. Oh yeah and one more thing; my hands were sort of blue for three days after this project, so be careful and wear gloves. Have fun and get ready to get messy! 🙂

Project: Bow Bracelet

Trend: Bows

This week I wanted to use some left over materials as I did not feel up to going supply shopping. Good thing I found this fabulous bow charm lying around! Did I mention I got it a couple weeks ago for under $2.00!?  I’ve been waiting to use it when the inspiration struck me right, and this was that moment.  I never truly understood how to use chains when making jewelry until pretty recently.  The trick is to use a pair of pliers to pull apart links in the chain.  You’ll need to pull links apart when attaching charms and when shortening your chain.  Once you know this, the possibilities are endless! I used a bow charm here, but feel free to use one you like or one you have. Have fun with the design process and enjoy! 🙂
