As summer comes to an end, fall is just around the corner which is a great time for fashion!  We get to see richer colors and  work those ankle boots.    One big trend coming up this autumn is brocade.  This is a type of luxurious textile with a bit of shine and usually features a floral pattern… gotta love it! I chose a black brocade material with silver flowers to make this clutch.  If you are sewing phobic but want to try making a handbag, this may be the project for you! Project: Couture Safety Pins

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I get a lot of my inspiration from couture shows and the fashion industry.  This latest project is no different as it was inspired by some accessories and pins I saw from the fall runway shows.  This is a super simple and easy project to pull off, I truly believe anyone can do it!  So if you have got the materials and the time I highly recommend this project.  The finished pins can be put on anything from sweaters to handbags and is the perfect accessory for fall.  Have fun and get creative! 🙂

Project: Tropical Wristlet

Lately I have been on the hunt for a wristlet that can actually fit my cell phone.  As I seem to come up empty handed every time, I thought why not make own!?  I started out with a tropical print and a couple of ideas.  At first, I was thinking of making a flap over, but quickly changed it over to a zipper closure (they are just so much easier to deal with!).  Anyway, I hope you like this design and I hope it inspires you to make your own!  Happy sewing! 🙂

Project: Tribal Denim Shorts

Trend: Tribal Denim

Take your denim shorts from drab to fab! This is a quick and easy DIY week.  All I did here was paint a simple pattern onto my denim shorts.  I found this fabric paint at a local craft store.  It was labeled as spray fabric paint (how cool is that!?).  I recommend sketching out an idea before you actually do it.  This project shows a tribal pattern here, but feel free to get creative and try anything. Project: Chain Headband

Looking for an easy DIY? Look no further! If you have seen my projects before, you’ll know I love working with chains and weaving ribbons through them.  The possibilities of this combo can be pretty endless.  In this project we do some ribbon weaving and end up with a stylish headband.  I think headbands can add a little fun to any look, a small pop of color, and they are an easy way to keep your hair out of your eyes.  Whatever your motivations may be to use one, this really is an easy project that can be completed in a couple of minutes.  Feel free to make it our own and have fun with it, happy crafting! 🙂

Project: Tie-Dye Maxi Dress

Hello world, I can’t believe it is summer already! With summer comes all types of campy inspired fashions.  One of my favorite DIY projects during this season is tie-dye.  It’s messy, it’s fun and it always comes out looking cool.  This project is no different, I bring to you the tie-dye maxi dress.  This is a super easy project and if you’re new to the tie-dye world I highly recommend it.  I only used one color here and kept it simple but feel free to get creative.  Are you a fan of tie-dye?  Let me know and happy crafting! 🙂

Hello friends! I just got my mac back so now I’m back to posting fun projects.  I’m not sure if you have noticed or thought about chain trimming as a trend, but it definitely is! I see chains being used as an accent on handbags, clothing, and of course shoes.  It’s a basic idea and simple to do yourself.  So why not!? Chains like the one I used here can be found in the jewelry section of most craft stores.  They are a pretty versatile craft supply. Project: Sparkle Comb

 Have you noticed the weather has been getting warmer and the days have been getting longer?  That’s right it’s almost summer time and with that comes festivals, parties and cookouts!
